The Department of Computer Science has experienced significant growth over the last few years, with strong groups in Data Mining, Image Processing, Mobile Computing and Bio-Informatics. Recently, the University Grants Commission, New Delhi has sanctioned  54.50 lakhs under Special Assistance Programme-Departmental Research Support for five years. The Department is offering M. C. A., M. Phil. and Ph. D. programmes. There are three separate research laboratories available for Image Processing, Mobile Computing and Data Mining. The Department has established MoU with ICT, Tamilnadu and Salem Cancer Institute, Salem to strengthen the research in the cutting edge areas. The Department has been permitted to start two year M. Sc. Computer Science programme from the ensuing academic year. The Department offers conducive environment for learning, thinking and achieving.
